I Am A Mistress' Daughter

My mother is my Dad's mistress. I know who my half-brothers and sisters are, but they live as if we do not exist. We have never met them in person before. Sometimes, when I am lonely, I long for my siblings; after all I am one of them...yet, just because of the adults' unacceptable actions years ago, I too have to pretend that I am all alone in this world. Is it simply too bad that my mother happens to be a second wife? As Christians, where do we stand before the just God who forgives? Sometimes I wish that I could be made all over again so that I do not have to bear this stigma of being a second wife's child. O God, please help me, please give me a free conscience that will enable me to live with my head held high...for truly, it is not my fault that I was born!

For Meditation and Prayer:

"As for Ishmael, I have heard you; I will bless him and make him exceedingly numerous; he shall be the father of twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation...Then Abraham took his son Ishmael and all the slaves born in his house and bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house, and he circumcised the flesh of their foreskin that very day, as God had said to him."

Genesis 17:20-23

"Parents shall not be put to death for their children, nor shall children be put to death for their parents; only for their own crimes may persons be put to death

Deuteronomy 24:16

"For it is a credit to you if, being aware of God, you endure pain while suffering unjustly. If you endure while beaten for doing wrong, what credit is that? But if you endure when you do right and suffer for it, you have God's approval. For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving an example, so that you would follow in His steps...when He was abused, He did not return abuse; He suffered, He did not threaten; but He entrusted to the One who judges justly."

1 Peter 2: 19-23

"And God heard the voice of the boy (Ishmael)... God was with the boy, and he grew up..."

Genesis 21: 15-21
